A Guide to Mis-Sold Investment Bonds
If you have been mis-sold an investment bond, you may be able to make a claim.
An Investment Bond is a lump sum life insurance policy which you can invest across a variety of different funds. It is usually paid as a single premium. You can invest it into a fund of your choice. If an advisor sold you an investment bond without advising you correctly, then you may be able to make a claim for mis-sold investment bonds.
The amount you receive on surrender or death depends on how well the investment performs. Investment bonds can be fixed-term or have no set term. You may have to pay surrender penalties in the early stages of investment.
Mis-sold Investment Bonds
In the past, financial advisors were encouraged to sell customers as many investment bonds as possible as they had large commissions and bonuses. Because of this, many were advising customers to sign up for investment bonds even if they were not suitable for their needs or if they did not best fit the customer’s requirements.
If an advisor has sold you an investment bond without informing you of all the risks associated with them, such as management charges and surrender penalties, then you may have been mis-sold the investment and may be able to make a claim.
Investment Bonds came with associated costs and if you were not advised of these when you took out the Investment Bond, this could result in compensation for a mis-sold investment.
